“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was completely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. However, it got corrected rapidly.”

This incident isn’t the first time an NFL owner has been penalized for inappropriate behavior. Previous cases include:
- Panthers proprietor Tepper was penalized $300K for tossing a beverage at spectators in January 2024.
